How do I change my birthdate or sex?
You don't. We removed the code to edit birthdays/sex cause we felt a birthdate or sex should never change. If there is an error leave feedback. Please remember to leave your complete birthdate, May 2, 1974 or 5/2/74. Comments like 'I'm 23 not 21' does not help.
I lost my password, what do I do?
Go to the Lost Password page and use it to reset it. Passwords are ALL encrypted so we can't view them. The only thing that
can be done is to reset the password to a new one. The new password will be emailed to you if you remembered your security answer. If your email address has changed, you can reset that as well.
What is this mail quota all about?
Non-Paid Members have a limit of 100 mails a day that can be sent. We feel this is enough for the typical
user to utilize. If you are constantly going over this quota you could either get a Membership or consider
communicating with the person via other means (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo).
I bought a membership and my membership isn't showing up, what gives?
Depends on how you paid for it.
Money Order - First off it has to arrive before we can process the membership. If you didn't include a
username, your money order may still be sitting here. Leave feedback.
Check - We normally do not accept checks, if you mailed a check then it is subject to a 2 week hold before
the membership is turned on.
PayPal - Transactions are pretty much instant (but can take up to 30 minutes). If the eCheck option is used it can take up to 4 DAYS to
clear, when it does clear the account is then activated. However if you didn't use eCheck and the account is not active within 2 hours, leave feedback.
Cash - Oh dear. We are honest but the postal system... HA! Don't wanna think about it.
Why Did My Whole Screen Just Turn Red?

Heart symbols don't work, why not?
Not all browsers support the code that produces the heart.. If the browser DOES understand the code, then the font set must have the character for the heart. In general if you see some weird numbers (9829) etc then your browser does not understand the entity for it. If your browser displays a ? (question mark) then the heart symbol is not in the font library. Also with the way the wordwrap works it is BEST to put a space before and/or after the [h] tag.

You probably unchecked the box next to 'Accept Mail (This Is Online Mail)'

If they turn the crush list off, they are removed from everyone's crush list. If the user is deleted they are
removed as well.

I keep getting a message saying my account has been compromised. What does that mean?
This means someone has logged into your account from another location, aka your password is known to others. As stated in the ToS , the account has been suspended due to this. This does not mean you have lost the account. Leave feedback as the message states, OR wait 5-10 minutes and see if it goes away.
How do I make a theme?
If you are a paid member you can go here and make one. The theme has to be entered manually by one of the admins, so it can take time.
How Do I Delete My Account?

It says my username is taken! I searched for it but it is not found! Why???
Perhaps it is an alt-coa user username. Perhaps it was the username of a previous user who was deleted, perhaps it was a username used in a 'renamed' account, perhaps it is a reserved word. But 99% of the time it is a previous username. We DO NOT recycle usernames. The last thing we want is new users getting mail (if paid member) from old user accounts.
What is this Top 10/Top 25 ranking thing? (Acid Or Not)
Based on 'Acid or Not' ratings, people who have made the top 10 or top 25 will have it listed in their
profile. It is only viewable by the user themselves, unless they choose to have this information displayed (In 'Acid Or Not' Settings area)
Categories are 'Male','Female' and 'Both Sexes'. Rankings are weighed based on number of votes. This means that 1 person with 1 vote of 10 will not rank higher than a user with 4 votes of 8.
The actual list is not viewable by users.

Why are some names bolded and italized on my friends list and on others?
When viewing someone elses profile, the bolded names are people who you have on your friends list. Meaning you have the same friend.
My profile says 'Profile Not Available, Check Back Later', why??
Your account most likely has been suspended due to a terms of service violation(s). Perhaps it is unavailable cause someone else (other than yourself) has been accessing your account and has been suspended till the situation is resolved. There are a number of reasons. And YOU (the account holder) should contact us immediately to get it resolved.
Can I get my username changed?
If the new username you want is available it CAN be done. It is not everyday practice to do this. Go Here.Not all requests will be honored.

How is the order fo the Current Users page determined
It is based on activity. Meaning the last person to do something (usually yourself) is the first. So the people at the bottom of the page are the ones who have been inactive.
Why is there no nudity in photos allowed?
Cause anyone from the age of 14 and up can join the site. We decided NO NUDITY. This includes everything, including artwork/cartoons/animation etc. No nudity is no nudity. If we allowed such content in 'art' then people would just go find adult artwork to post . This also DOES include Lords of Acid - VooDoo-U artwork. If you'd find the graphic on a site for 18+ people, we don't want it. There are other types of photos we don't allow, but those are in the Terms of Service as well
I signed up and I never received my confirmation email. What do I do.
Check your junk mail/spam filtered messages. If the message bounced, we'll see it, otherwise it is sent instantly. The pending signup is valid for 3 days before it expired.
How do I do a poll?
Member polls are for paid members. if you are a paid member go into your account edit and it is in the navigation called 'Profile Poll'
Why did my acid rating go down?
Most likely your rating and your number of votes went down. Inactive users are deleted, so when they are deleted, their vote is deleted as well.
I reset my password, but I didn't get the email! Why?
Maybe your email address is invalid? Reset the email address. Maybe the email was flagged as spam, check your spam folder/directory (or wherever your mail client puts spam).
My animated photo will not upload, what's wrong?
We don't allow animated photos/images. In the original setup/testing of the site we allowed it but soonly discovered that if you get a bunch of people with moving images as their profile image, it drives you nuts.
Also for technical reasons, in order to 'scale' an animated image, the image must be taken apart, scaled and then put back together in order to get it within proportions and to make big and small versions of it.

All answers must be unique. All answers may not be blank (including just spaces). and of course the question must not be blank (or spaces) either.

Reset your password. If you haven't changed your password but you can't login, It could be that the email address on file has been bouncing. Please review the Terms of Service, then reset the email address on file, then issue a password reset.
What is 'Soft Logout'
When users login and use the 'Remember Me' option, it stores a cookie on the computer. Clicking 'Logout' kills the cookie so the remember me is deleted (cookie is gone).
Soft Logout lets the user Logout and not show up as online but keeps the cookie so when they come back they are still remembered.
I left feedback and you did not respond, why?
Sometimes when we respond the emails bounce due to a wrong email address.. Sometimes the mails go through but get filtered as spam or something. If the feedback is specifically about your account (any aspect of your account), we will only respond to the email address we have on file for your account. If you don't have a CoA account, most of the time we will not respond.
I got a message saying I need to update my email address immediately. Why?
A. It is part of the Terms of service that you agreed to when you joined. So the notice caused by the 'bounced' caused by the address.
B. It could be you have mail notification on. Meaning each time someone mails you on CoA, you are sent an email. That email could be bouncing.
Since we don't believe in fake/bad 'reply-to' headers, all bounced message come to my PERSONAL account. Meaning if your email address is bad and you (for example) get 30 new coa messages on coa AND have mail notification ON, I GET ALL 30 mail notices saying the email address is bad. This is annoying
Suggestions are to update the email address immediately, before I delete the account and (optionally), turn mail notification OFF.
Why is my account suspended?
Probably a Terms of Service violation(s). Check back in a week.
Is there any other way to pay for a membership beside PayPal? Can I pay with credit card?
You can pay with Money Order. The information is on the Membership page.
You can use a credit card to pay for a membership through PayPal. However, That is the only way to do it with a credit card. The credit card merchant we use for other transactions does not allow 'service' based transactions (only 'Goods') with their system. It is against their Terms of Service.
Why isn't CoA 18+ Only?
There is no use in restricting age on this site, people will just lie and say they are 18. Have you ever been to a site like FaceTheJury.com? Have you looked at the profiles on that site? Most of them and I am NOT kidding, are like this 'Hi! I'm stacy, I'm actually 15....' and 'Hi I'm Jessica, I'm not really 18' etc etc etc. I find nothing more annoying than this. I hate people who lie about their age,sex etc (which is why it is in the ToS). A majority of Lords/Praga shows are ALL AGES shows, so I don't see why this site can't be either. However due to certain restraints, users must be 14+ years old to join. Even if the site was 18+ only, there will would not be nudity and things would be the same as it is now.
I got an email saying I had mail on CoA/I logged INTO coa and it said I had mail.. And now I don't/I am missing messages. What happened/Where did they go?
Spam system probably deleted it. It is recommended you ignore it.
My acid rating went down! Why?
If your rating went down then it could be someone gave you a 1 and it went down?
If your number of VOTES went down AND your acid rating changed, most likely a user was deleted from the system, as was their vote.
How do I make it so my profile shows my last login time/date?
Go to 'Edit' and scroll down to 'Show Last Login' and select 'Yes'
My account was deleted, how do I get it back?
You don't. Once an account is deleted, it is deleted (pictures and everything).
How do I get a 'Title' or 'Status'?
Titles and status are official Praga Khan/Lords of Acid/Children of Acid related things. They are to identify uniqueness.. Meaning, it is not just something everyone has. Take for example 'Kurt' or 'LaStrega' They have titles cause they are band members. This is an official title to help identify them as such. This will cut down on people going 'is he really the drummer??'
Status is basically only use for the original CoA members... and other things (perhaps death etc).

Why do you constant tell people to leave feedback?
The main reason is, the question has probably been answered on this site.. And a lot of the times they've asked me something that goes in other areas of this site. Meaning 'can you add *(&(*(* to the site'.. well this would go under 'wish list' which could also be considered a 'feature request' list. Some people have written to say 'this is broke' well that goes under 'Bug Report'.. and those who say 'you need to get (*&$(#$* in stock' that is where 'Merch Tips' come into place. And of course for those who can't seem to figure out what changes have been made to the site, this is under 'Version History'.
The next reason, which I have explained on the site but yet no one seems to read.. My mail on coa is auto deleted from the database as soon as it is opened (Similar to 'Auto-Kill Mail'). if you send me a message saying something.. If I close the window, go away, my computer goes boom, or anything, that message is gone. With the feedback system we have here.. All requests are put into a database, the entry stays there till the request is completed (or deleted cause it belongs is another area). I am also sent a mail to a private email address, which ensures the message is not html encoded. That is a big problem with people emailing me this stuff outside the site is, they mail me stuff, send it html encoded, which gets deleted, and then bitch later that I never responded. A copy of the message is saved in a local mailbox incase of any outside the server problems.
And Lastly. I am PAGED/sent a text message of the request.
Though with people sending completely irrelevant stuff through feedback, the main feedback area now has a standard and urgent priority, one pages me, the other does not.
What happens if my membership expires?
You go straight to hell, you don't pass go, and you certainly do not collect $200.
Actually the CoA system is pretty much backwards compatible (if that is the correct wording). If your membership expires you are locked out of all the membership features. HOWEVER, if/when you renew, almost ALL of the functions are restored as they were. This means all your journal entries will still be there, all your photos will still be intact, your bio is restored to the full length etc etc etc. *NOTE* the ONE thing that is NOT restored to normal is your mail. When you have a membership you have a set quota of mail (for example; 200), so when you have a membership you can have 200 mails in your mailbox and they aren't deleted. When you expire, the mails are truncated to the non-member quota (example: 20), so when you renew, instead of having 200 mails, you would only have 20. ALSO NOTE, the 'Saved Messages' will STILL be intact. Only your inbox and outbox are affected by this.
I was a paid member and my account expired. I looked and it shows I logged in recently, but I have not, did someone hack my account?
Not at all. under the terms and conditions, accounts can be terminated for lack of use. But as stated, paid members are not subject to this rule. However, if you do not use your account for a long period of time and your account expires, it is then changed to nonpaid status, and NORMALLY the system would delete your account instantly cause you are a nonpaid member and the account has been inactive. So what we have done is, when your account expires, the account is marked that you have logged in that day, this gives you '69 days' to log into after expiration. So your last login time SHOULD be the same time that your account expired.
Why don't I have a 2004 (or other year) graphic on my profile?
Okay, The graphic(s) are the for the year(s) you've been a paid member.
Look at it logically. If you paid May 2002. Then you are a paid member of 2002. Now of course 2003 is going to come along.. Does that mean you are a paid member of 2003? Nope. When you pay in May 2003, then you will get a 2003 graphic.
So yes we are in 2004, Those who paid for multiple years in 2003 or paid on January 1st, 2004 are paid members of 2004.
if after reading this, you think there is an error, Let us know, we have complete records of every membership since day 1.
How do I had the 'Currently Listening To' thing to my profile!?
If you are a paid member, go to the Account Edit area (Edit,Advanced,Pics etc) and click on 'MP3' in the Account Menu. Pick between Winamp2, MacOSX, and XMMS
If you can't find it, Just view someone's profile who has it and click on the little ICON next to the mp3 information (winamp logo, mac logo, or xmms logo).
Why don't you have the 'pay with credit card' option on all your merchandise?
The credit card option is handled through a credit card processing company. To save themselves money they do not process credit card transactions immediately.. They go into a batch process. Meaning they wait till they have 100+ orders then run them through all at once. This hurts US when we have limited quantities on items and the like cause this batch process can take 4 hours to almost 3 days to get orders from. There have been many times in the past where users have paid for stuff and we've sold out, and days later we get their order. hard to ship something you are sold out of. Paypal is instant and even pages us when there is an order so we can keep on top of things.
How Do I Get A Lifetime Membership?
You have to be a paid member for 5 years. The years do not need to be consecutive. Once your 5th membership has been applied it can take up to 1 HOUR. |
